The Centre for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) is preparing to roll out its 2025 training programs. As part of this initiative, CEMASTEA is updating its database of Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers who are responsible for teaching STEM-related subjects. These subjects include Mathematics, Integrated Science, Pre-Technical Studies, and Agriculture & Nutrition, taught in Grades 7, 8, and 9.
Purpose of the Data Collection
The objective of this exercise is to streamline training programs by ensuring that only teachers assigned to STEM learning areas participate. This approach will enhance the capacity-building process, which is vital for the continued success of STEM education in Kenya.
What Teachers Need to Do
CEMASTEA has shared a Google Form link for teachers assigned to STEM subjects. Teachers are required to fill in their information to facilitate proper planning. The submission deadline is Friday, January 24, 2025.
Call to Action for Education Officers
The CTCDC chairpersons across the country have been tasked with sharing this information with concerned teachers. They are required to ensure only eligible STEM teachers fill out the form.
Why This Matters
This exercise underscores the growing emphasis on STEM education in Junior Secondary Schools, a critical area for Kenya’s technological and scientific advancement. With accurate data, institutions like CEMASTEA can offer targeted training programs, equipping teachers with the tools they need to inspire future innovators.
